Towards Fair and Sustainable Club Culture

Das Problem

We call for a shift in booking policies across the electronic music scene—policies that promote fairness, artistic integrity, and long-term sustainability for all involved.

Why This Matters

The health of club culture depends on the people who build it: artists, DJs, promoters, and clubs alike. Yet many current industry practices prioritize profit and popularity over artistry and fairness. Too often, decisions are made based on discriminatory biases, exploitative deals, or hype-driven metrics—at the cost of genuine talent, community values, and sustainability.

What We Stand For

1. Fair and Inclusive Booking Practices

  • No more bookings influenced by discriminatory factors such as race, gender, sexuality, age, or appearance.
  • End the dominance of industry plants and manufactured popularity. Focus on talent and authentic contribution.

2. Prioritize Artists Who Contribute Creatively

  • Give more space to live acts and DJs who are also producers and creators.
  • Elevate those who are building and innovating culture, not just replicating it.

3. Collaborative Models for Sustainability

  • Encourage active collaboration between clubs and artists to find sustainable, mutually beneficial models.
  • Avoid booking decisions based solely on cost-cutting. This doesn’t mean fees should be unsustainable for clubs or disconnected from an artist’s value but booking based only on price compromises the quality of club culture. We need to shift the conversation from “what’s cheapest” to “what works” and “what brings value”  and actively find solutions that benefit everyone.

4. Artists Are Not Disposable

  • Treat artists as long-term partners, not short-term content providers.
  • Support clubs and organizations that are making a real effort to curate meaningful lineups and support emerging, underrepresented artists.

5. Support for Curated, Community-Based Programming

  • Allocate more funding and resources to clubs and promoters who value careful curation and contribute to cultural development rather than just commercial success.
  • Empower those who are working to build ecosystems, not just events.

Our Vision

We envision a club culture that values creativity over clout, collaboration over competition, and care over exploitation. A scene where every booking supports a bigger picture: equity, sustainability and real artistry.
