Tow truck companies and excessive fees

Tow truck companies and excessive fees
The Issue
My car was towed from an unmarked space at my daughter's apartment complex as a result of their residents parking their fleets of work vans and trucks in the visitors spaces. Therefore leaving nowhere to park. I've addressed the problem with the property and OF COURSE they don't care or see how that causes a problem for the actual "visitors".
Aside from that, when I went to retrieve my car from the towing company's property ($150.00 standard plus $45 per day) it was easy to understand why a convenient lot selling cars was located right next door, multiple businesses selling car parts at least a mile long were beside that and the "Oh well, we got you" attitude is just that of all those involved. The racket in private property towing completely shuts down a family's ability to work, get their children to school, shop for groceries just to name a few. The amount of money being pulled from the targeted low income communities just to get their OWN property returned is unbelievable. Those who cannot afford the outrageous fees are forced to leave behind a very important resource necessary for survival in most cases. Left to be sold or stripped apart for profit as the rich continue to prey on the poor for their benefit. Therefore, starting the downward spiral into the bottomless pit of poverty for most by not being able to get to work, losing their jobs, losing housing...etc. I'm sure if legislation was introduced to regulate these fees, the amount of people requiring the state's assistance would decrease a little.
I'm sure MANY will come from afar to contribute their stories of how they have been bent over the barrel and ultimately lost their property to the hands of towing companies and there affiliates. I will be more than happy to meet you at the property so you can see FIRST HAND the acres of dinosaurs and their bones scattered blocks long and wide. Left by the poor that could not afford their rescue and ultimately changing the paths of their lives.
More recent, I was involved in a single car accident on the highway. With liability insurance only, my towing and storage bill reached close to $1,000 during my recovery. Something has to be done. A state wide cap should be imposed to prevent these companies from profit that in most cases exceed the value of the vehicles involved. They in turn sell your car for parts ABA still collect these excessive fees. Please help as we the consumer continue to be victimized by capitalization.
