Reject consent for security fence around BMX track at Pollyfield, East-the-water

The BMX track has erected a security fence around it without planning consent 2 years ago and has been forced to apply retrospectively for permission.  We want Torridge District Council to reject that application and make sure the fence stopping local kids from using the BMX track comes down.  The track was built in 2008 for the people and children of East-the-water and it was never intended to become some private club.  By erecting this fence the BMX club has taken away a very important community asset from all the children of Bideford.

Since the fence has been put in place there has been an increase in children playing on the roads with their bikes, this is not only dangerous for them but also a nuisance for other road users.  It is important that the community asset of the BMX track remains open to anyone in the community to use and not restricted by this 6 foot security fence.

We ask Torridge District Council to refuse permission for a fence around the BMX track at Pollyfield as it excludes local children from using the track and diminishes the value of Pollyfield Park to the people of East-the-water.

UPDATE: Torridge granted permission but as landlord for the site is looking to use the tennacy agreement with the club to get the fence and associated building work, that is stopping public access, removed.
