Recently, it has been shared that the plight of the majestic boardwalk cats will be discussed at a town meeting on July 6th. The time will be forthcoming and shared as soon as the information is available. One might not think this meeting will not make any difference in the grand scheme of things yet that could not be further from the truth. It is critical that we have as many people attend this meeting to defend the cats and SSHAWO as possible. We have a voice and it needs to be heard. Whether you live in town or not, please make every effort to attend! A quote from the Mayor of Seaside Heights was shared that is of great interest to all who have signed this petition. He stated, " I don't care how many people sign the petition, they mean nothing to me." Well the visitors to this town might "mean nothing" to the mayor but the tourists who visit Seaside Heights mean a great deal to the town and the income of its businesses. According to the Director of Business Development and Tourism, Dana Lancellotti-the tourists who visited Ocean County shore towns generated $4.58 BILLION dollars in 2015-up 5% from 2014. 37,000 jobs are based on tourism in Ocean County and each tax payer in shore towns would pay $1,400 more a year if not for tourism. Christopher Vaz himself attended travel shows in New York and Boston to bring tourism to the town of Seaside Heights. These statistics clearly show how important the people who visit Seaside Heights AND signed the petition are to the town's success. So please plan on attending the meeting on July 6th because we all have a voice and actually MEAN SOMETHING to both the town and the cats. Sign and Share-Show You Care
