How would you like to be killed with a sledgehammer blow to the head, especially if the first blow misses its mark? The cruelty of the live export trade is intolerable. The industry has proven repeatedly over time, again and again and again, that it cannot be trusted to ensure appropriate animal welfare. And that's not just at destination, but during transport. It's almost intrinsically cruel the way it's done. Enough is enough. Stop sending live animals on one way trips to hell and start processing them in Australia where animal welfare can be guaranteed, and send the meat overseas chilled or frozen instead. That's a value-add for Australian industry, as well as being the necessary and right thing to do for animal welfare.
