Grant a Coalition Free Vote on Marriage Equality
This petition had 2,960 supporters
A Coalition free vote on marriage equality will allow federal representatives the opportunity to vote in favour of equality for all loving, committed couples
Marriage Equality is supported by 72% of Australians and a free vote on reform is supported by 77% of Australians according to Liberal Party pollster Crosby Textor.
A free vote would be consistent with the Coalition principle of individual freedom and will encourage coalition members to hear the compelling stories for marriage equality from their constituents.
Marriage equality will strengthen families, provide same-sex couples with full legal equality and protection under the law, reduce stigma and discrimination against LGBTI Australians, and improve Australia's international reputation.
Prominent Coalition members who support a conscience vote on marriage equality include, National Party Deputy Leader, Barnaby Joyce, Treasurer, Joe Hockey, Communications Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, NSW Premier, Mike Baird, West Australian Premier, Colin Barnett, and former Howard Government minister, Amanda Vanstone.
Please support a Coalition free vote.
