Save The Bees: Pennsylvania Government

Save The Bees: Pennsylvania Government
The Issue
Bees play a major role in our community and environment. We need to put a regulation on toxic pesticides in PA to spark this change. If bees are already endangered. If they were to vanish completely, wind pollinated crops will not be affected (eg. the grasses such as wheat, oats, barley, rice) but the varieties of vegetables and fruit will decrease and they will become more expensive. With fruits and vegetables being high on the nutritional pyramid, this has significant implications for national health.
If all of the world's bees died off, there would also be major rippling effects throughout ecosystems. A number of plants, such as many of the bee orchids, are pollinated exclusively by specific bees, and they would die off without human intervention. This too would alter ecosystems.
They are critical pollinators: they pollinate 70 of the around 100 crop species that feed 90% of the world. Honey bees are responsible for $30 billion a year in crops. That's only the start. We may lose all the plants that bees pollinate, all of the animals that eat those plants and so on up the food chain.
