Friends-
We are sad to share that Minnie has not been seen by the public for some time.
However, CompassionWorks Intl. has obtained the last USDA inspection of the Commerford facility, which was on September 8, 2021. They noted Minnie's presence, but provided no further information.
Because she is on private property, it is difficult to continually monitor her well-being as we can with elephants who appear in traveling circuses. What we do know is that Minnie is alone without the company of other elephants and living in a miserable barn. She deserves sanctuary and a chance to develop relationships with others of her kind.
CWI continues to advocate for Minnie and will track her movements in 2022. We are also working on a project to request changes to USDA reporting so that we have better information regarding the status of captive elephants.
Please help us keep up our work in 2022 for Minnie and all captive animals used in the entertainment industry. Donations to support our work are being matched dollar-for-dollar through yearend. Visit cwint.org/donate to help us help animals today!
Wishing you a happy holiday season.
For the animals,
Carrie LeBlanc, M.A.
