We can no longer stay silent; we can no longer just comply because you say so Mr President.  Not only have our rights to obtaining legal cigarettes been taken away, all our rights are now being violated!  LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD!!!

Once Again, without warning or consultation with your people, you have taken away our rights.  You have gone about this in an underhanded manner by gazetting everything before you even addressed the nation.

We are no longer complacent; we have had enough and we are angry!!  Do we have to resort to burning and looting to have our voices heard?  You have taken full advantage of us law abiding, tax paying citizens, knowing full well we won’t easily resort to violence, however the hundreds of messages I receive on a daily basis are now indicating something else and I hate to break this to you Mr President, but you are inciting your good people of south Africa to take to the streets.

First the hard lockdown for 21 days which has turned into 110 days.  You have had a quarter of 2020 to get your act together, but all you have managed to do is starve people, kill people (yes, unfortunately you are accountable for the suicides), deem millions jobless and homeless. 

You have destroyed the economy; you have allowed illicit tobacco dealers to become millionaires and the billions you have allowed the country to lose in legal cigarette sales is astounding.  One would think South Africa had a thriving economy to start with, if you could just throw away this much needed money which could have built new hospitals, fed the starving and provided shelter for the homeless.

The corruption, which has been quite evident long before the pandemic, is now escalating and those on the gravy train are just getting fatter and fatter, yet you turn a blind eye to this too?

You never address all the murders happening on a daily basis in our country, our farmers being slaughtered, our woman being raped and killed, yet you are prepared to destroy our beautiful country because of a virus???  One thing you have prepared extremely well for is the 1.5 million graves – worst case scenario, 500 000 from Covid 19 and 1 000 000 from starvation?

We have had a virus in South Africa long before 2020 and unfortunately this virus is in governance.  Everywhere one looks you will find corruption and you have done nothing about this either!  A corrupt government official gets a slap on the wrist and at worst, is suspended WITH pay while so called investigations are underway.

You deploy the Police and the Army to lock up soft targets like the joggers and smokers, yet you release thousands of real criminals back onto the streets, to do what exactly? Did they have jobs lined up before their release?  Did they have homes to go back to?  Or did you not care if they resumed their criminal activities once again, as long as they didn’t contract Covid 19 whilst in prison?

Mr President, I honestly think you see your citizens as absolute fools and yes, I think we are.  We are fools for allowing you to continue dictating to us (democracy ha!), we are fools for letting you believe we have no clue what is going on.  Then again, as I am sure you know, silence does not mean stupidity or complacency or even belief in our government, it merely means we had respect. 

Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. We have lost any respect we had for you as a President and will no longer remain silent and will now do whatever needs to be done to LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it!
