You must honor your commitments to the community you are leaving behind.
The Issue
Design standards, environmental standards for sustainability and neighborhood friendly aspects were all agreed to and written into the master plan for any future development on the site where the UMCP now sits.
When the joint decision was made that the hospital could not grow and remain in the neighborhood a special zone called the Mixed Residential Retail Office zone was created for the sole purpose of allowing the UMCP to receive an expectable selling price which would allow them to make a large profit fron the sale so they could reinvest the proceeds into a state of the art new medical center in a neighboring town.
The proposed development and sight plans submitted by a large national rental apartment developer shows a complete disregard for the desires of the community and turns a blind eye to the current Master Plan for the future of one of the best small towns in the country.
We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the University Medical Center of Princeton and their Trustees honor their commitment to the neighborhood where they have made their home and done business for the last 93 years. They must do everything they can to ensure a comfortable transition to a deserving neighborhood where they have made their home.
Anything short of complete compliance with the Princeton Master Plan will be considered a breach of trust by the Trustees, the President and CEO and the University Medical Center of Princeton as a whole. Please do not allow a gigantic corporate developer to complete a bait and switch move by only following the legal maximums allowed by ordinance and completely disregard the agreed upon desires of the community at large.
