I am revisiting this petition and have expanded the criteria that will be forwarded to the government to be considered by the Royal Commission into the recent bushfires.

When I sent this petition to the government about drought prevention scheme, their response was a prefabricated media release that they are or have actions in place for the drought.

Twelve months on we have seen no change or progress from any government actions, with farmers being furthermore affected by the drought, having to cull livestock that they would sell but can't sustain food and water for. Farmers whose crops are dieing or yeilding poor quality and quantity. Farmers suffering stress and even suicide.

Then in the midst of this catastrophic drought we are hit with the worst bushfires ever recorded in Australia. All of which was worsened by the drought, lack of preventative measures, like back burning and clearing, and the lack of preparation by the government by not having adequately supplied fire services, including our own heavy water bombers like Elvis, we need at least two. Our RFS supplied with adequate equipment, learn from now and ask those that were in the field what they needed.

Going forward as a nation, that includes all our levels of government, we must reflect, listen, learn and act promptly so we don't have to go through this again and if we do be prepared.
