To … The ‘low hanging fruit’ on the BetterOzInternet tree’………. (All 185 of you who have signed the petition so far.)
Familiar with the saying, “Fake it till you make it.”?
Change that to “Shake it till you make it.”
Then to “Shake it till you wake it.”.
Then, “Shake ém till you wake ém.”. (Time to Wake Australia up!)
And the point of all this?
The social media – is about to get “a good shaking.” (See the ‘slogan’ on the front page of the web site when it appears. A hint of the highly organised campaign to come.)
The campaign is almost ready for a ‘proper’ launching – just 90 days before a DD (double dissolution) election date. The bulk of the editing of the web site is done. The site is being transferred to a hosting service that will make ‘pointing to it’ a simpler process and the final touches are being added to the plan for its roll out.
So, ”Why the ‘Shake ém’” bit?
A street in a country town in NSW had a dozen or so pecan nut trees down one side and at a certain time of the year, every afternoon about 3:30 almost every tree would start shaking violently.
And the reason for that? There’d be bunch of kids shaking the loose ‘nuts’ off the branches.
The application of that process.
Firstly, two significant points.
1. In a Land Down Under, there’s a large tree with 18 million ‘sleeping’ voters who need to be awakened to the power of the proper NBN.
2. Social media’s effectiveness is known.
So, WHY do some campaigns (petitions) fail so completely?
Simply because the bulk of the (higher) fruit is out of reach!
Hopefully, amongst the 185 of you, there are some (30 + 40?) serious ‘movers and shakers’. People who will dedicate themselves to climb into the upper branches of Facebook and Twitter etc. tree and keep shaking the public awareness of the BetterOzInternet petition at (or close to!) the forefront of both sites. (A mixed metaphor, but I trust you get the drift of it.)
Everything else we do will simply be aimed at pointing new ‘fruit’ to the tree. E.g. word of mouth, SnapChat via mobile phones, emails, advertising etc.
Believe me, This is our ONLY HOPE of a truly magnificent victory over FTTN for a very, very long time.
I also hope that you begin to get a grasp of the thinking that’s behind BetterOzInternet.org.!
