The petition hit 3,500 signatures while I was having breakfast with 14 more while writing this quick post. 210 signers took the time to write public comments. 183 contributed $2,479 to Change.Org to promote the petition (I presume that's how Change.Org keeps its people paid).

This is the first time I've done a petition, so I'm learning as I go. I converted the signed-per-day into a spreadsheet to get a sense of when, in the words of Change.Org, to declare victory - although for this petition the signers victory comes when the Minister changes the rules.

The first day showed it was a popular idea. A lot of collectors hang out on Facebook groups, so posting a notice on a few sites caused the petition to take off. The first three hours it was one signature every 45 seconds and went from zero to 900 in the first day. Then as one would expect, it settled down, but it bumped again on day 8 with the third largest day on day 19.  Someone must have passed the link on to an active forum or group.

I'm not sure when to cut it off and present it to the Minister.  It keeps growing every hour.

Do any of you know the Hon David Seymour. Minister of Regulation? Perhaps alert him to the petition (https://www.change.org/De-RegNZTA) so he can follow it while it grows.

Keep spreading the word. According to FMOC-NZ there are 369,600 collectible motor vehicles. Let them know this petition is for them.
