An off-duty Senior Constable who was stabbed between the eyes during a break-in at his Melbourne home is due to undergo surgery on his eye socket today. Victoria Police Sr Const. Daniel Yeoman’s wife and son witnessed the attack early last Saturday, which allegedly involved a 19-year-old man breaking into their Wantirna home and making off with a car. Sr Constable Yeoman was stabbed in the face during the break-in. His wife Shereen said her children were horrified by their father’s injuries. “Obviously it was a really traumatising experience for me and my family. I’m trying to keep my kids occupied,” the mother-of-four said. “My son saw before when the man was in our house and Dan was fighting him off. He also saw the aftermath… the blood was all over our floor and our house. It was hard for the kids to see. “I just didn’t want my son to see it and he came out anyway. Then my daughter came out when the police arrived, she saw the blood and panicked.” Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton today said the officer’s family had been left “traumatised” by the frightening attack. “It’s disgusting… you look at the injuries that young man has received, certainly very serious,” he told 3AW. Snr Const. Yeoman’s injuries have caused him to lose feeling in part of his face. The family's car was found damaged and dumped in Glen Iris. The 19-year-old accused will face court on Thursday, and has been bailed several times before for burglaries and theft. On October 19, the teenager was arrested for burglary, theft and committing offences whilst on bail. He was remanded in custody but was granted bail five days later. He was arrested again on October 28 for burglary and committing offences whilst on bail, but was again granted bail. On November 19, he was arrested after allegedly stabbing the police officer in an aggravated burglary.
