A MOTHER carjacked by a scissor-wielding assailant in Brighton East believes a guardian angel must have been watching to keep her safe. “Anna”, who asked her real name be withheld, had parked her car in Mavis Ave and was having something to eat when the thief approached from nearby Landcox Park yesterday about 1.35pm. He yanked the Toyota Camry’s driver’s side door open without warning. “Suddenly he opened the door and he was just there — it was so quick,’’ Anna told the Herald Sun. “And he had scissors in his hand pointing at my head. “He said: ‘Get out of the car’ and he pulled me out. “I was so astonished.” A struggled ensued. Anna’s 2007 silver Toyota Camry sedan — which contained her purse, phone, electronic tablet and other personal items including a diary — was last seen heading towards Milroy Street and Nepean Highway. The vehicle has the registration UYZ 360. The thief was African in appearance, about 185cm and spoke English well. He wore tracksuit pants, a blue top with black print, light coloured runners and a cap. Information to Crime Stoppers via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersvic.com.au.
