BAY VILLAGE, Ohio — At least two more celebrities have offered big money after seeing the Ice Bucket Challenge that showed what was reported to be human waste being dumped on a Bay Village teen with autism.
Cleveland’s own Drew Carey started the trend on Saturday when he sent a tweet saying he would donate $10,000 to a reward fund to help find the people responsible. He followed that with a tweet saying the money could also be donated to Autism Speaks.
On Sunday, Jenny McCarthy tweeted, “I’m joining Drew Carey’s 10K Reward to Find Perpetrators Behind Horrible ALS Bucket Prank. Now it’s 20k!”
Donnie Wahlberg followed suit saying “if the prank is real”, “I am joining @JennyMcCarthy and @DrewFromTV and offering another $10K to the reward! That makes 30K!”
The video first aired on Fox 8 News last week at the request of the teen’s family to start a conversation about bullying.
They said the boy thought he was helping to raise money and spread awareness about ALS by having ice water dumped on his head.
Instead, the family said the bucket others dumped on him contained feces, urine, spit and cigarette butts.
The video was discovered on the teen’s cell phone and turned over to the police.
Fox 8 News has withheld the family’s last name to protect the victim.
The video is disturbing but was shared at the family’s request. Click here to view it.
