Hello everyone, this is Cashs mama posting an update. I really just wanted to add a bit of info to her page. We want to first thank everyone who has shown their support in trying to get the TPL to include and allow ALL children to attend their programming. We are seriously blown away by all the support and positive comments from everyone. We are slowly reading through all of them! Cash originally wanted to do a survey to see if the people in our community thought the TPL should include all children in their programming and together we decided to do this petition instead. Her initial goal was ten signatures, then she settled on 100, so when she saw that she had over 1000 supporters this morning she was thrilled and said "they have to let girls in now!". I am hopeful that this will happen. So again, thank you for signing and sharing! I also wanted to say that we have been participating in so many of the programs, sessions and events that the TPL has held during the last ten years and up until this week we have made nothing but great memories there. Ever since Cash was born, and especially before she started school, the TPL has been a second home for us. It's a safe, fun and loving place where we have been encouraged to grow, read, study, talk, learn, play, sing, dance and craft. I can't emphasize enough how fantastic all of the staff there has been. Up until this week, we had nothing but great things to say about the TPL. To say that I'm disappointed with the way the conversation we had with Elaine went is an under statement. Cash and I both tried REPEATEDLY to give examples as to why it is so important not to exclude girls from this session, but she continuously refused to register Cash. Unfortunately, I wasn't the only parent who was told this program would only be offered to boys, and the explanations we were given as to why it would be a "boys only" program are absolutely ridiculous. I also wanted to clarify that we did not reach out to Science Timmins regarding this session, because it seemed clear to us after talking with Elaine that this decision was coming from The TPL, and from our understanding, Science Timmins still continues to offer their programs to all people between the ages of 2-102. Cash has a meeting with the Mayor of Timmins on Monday and we are hoping this will all be resolved then. Thanks again!
