Timely Processing of German Student Visa Applications at the German Embassy Islamabad
The Issue
To: The Federal Foreign Office of Germany (Auswärtiges Amt) & The German Embassy Islamabad
The Crisis: Careers and Futures on the Line
Every year, thousands of highly qualified Pakistani students are officially admitted to German universities. We invest our life savings, securing thousands of euros in mandatory blocked accounts, and spend months preparing for our academic futures.
Right now, that future is being destroyed by an unprecedented administrative backlog at the German Embassy in Islamabad.
The 8-Month Wait: Students who registered on the waiting list in January 2026 are still waiting in September. For eight months, our funds have been frozen and our lives put completely on hold with zero updates or clarity.
The "Double-Deferral" Tragedy: Because of this staggering delay, hundreds of students already lost their Summer 2026 intake. We deferred our admissions, hoping the backlog would clear. Now, with Winter classes beginning, these exact same students are on the verge of losing their university seats for a second time.
The Human Cost: We are not just application numbers. We are students whose careers are at extreme risk. Our academic years are being wasted, our financial resources are tied up in foreign accounts we cannot access, and the mental toll of this constant uncertainty is devastating.
Our Demands:
We respectfully request the Auswärtiges Amt and the Embassy to address this crisis with the urgency it requires:
1. Prioritize Deferred Students: Students who applied early enough for the Summer intake but missed it due to embassy delays must have their visa interviews scheduled and applications processed immediately. It is unacceptable to force students into a second consecutive delay when they have already waited over half a year.
2. Transparency and Communication: We demand clear, proactive communication to applicants when substantial delays occur, so that students can make informed decisions regarding enrollment, accommodation, travel, and other critical life arrangements.
