Dear Friend,

Thank you to all recent signatories to the 'Time for trade unions to take the lead in forming a new working class party' petition. We've now reached 2,358 supporters - many of whom are reps and activists across more than a dozen different trade unions.

Reconvened Trade Unionists for a New Party meeting reports
In the last ten days, meetings have been held for campaign supporters in Unison, GMB and the CWU. In the CWU, for example, plans are underway to visit local workplaces to encourage members to vote at branch meetings on model motions to disaffiliate from the Labour Party and direct funds to political representatives who support their members' interests. Keep an eye on www.tusc.org.uk for updates on the campaign in other unions.

TUSC backs trade unionists' call for Greens to join the anti-austerity fight
The petition – launched by 20 current and former members of trade union executives – makes an opening appeal to Zack “to ensure that in this year’s local council elections no candidate shall appear on the ballot paper on behalf of the Greens who has not made a public commitment to vote against all cuts and closures to council services, jobs, pay and conditions should they be elected as a councillor on May 7th”.
