Thank you again for signing Time for Big Tech to Pay Up. Now we have an important opportunity to turn the support behind this petition into direct pressure on Parliament.

The House of Lords Communications and Digital Committee is currently investigating how well the Online Safety Act is working – and it is accepting written evidence from the public until 4pm on Monday 21 September.

Every submission counts, and we’ve teamed up with our friends at NewsCord to make submitting evidence quick and easy.

We want the Committee to hear loud and clear that the Online Safety Act is still not using all the powers available to hold the biggest social media companies accountable.

Section 217 provides a route towards requiring the largest platforms to take part in an independent, out-of-court dispute resolution process — giving people another way to seek redress when platforms fail them. But that power is not yet being used.

We want the House of Lords to put pressure on the Government to make use of Section 217 and ensure Big Tech can be properly held to account.
