Stop Horse Meat Consumption

The Issue

Many people think that horse meat is healthier than beef because it is leaner. However, many horses that are slaughtered have FDA-prohibited drugs in their system. These drugs can be lethal if consumed by humans.

Race track horses often consume the drugs that are toxic to humans. Unfortunately, if horses lose races repeatedly or are injured on the track they will be considered bad investments. Consequently, they are sent to slaughter with the toxins still in them.

Additionally, the Pregnant Mare Urine Industry (PMU) is on the rise to make Premarin, PremoPro, PremPhase, and Duavee for hormone replacement therapy. The drugs are made with hormones from pregnant horse urine. Once the mares have their foals, the foals are immediately sent to slaughter so that the mothers can get pregnant again for urine production. Preventing equine slaughter helps save those foals.
