Further to the communication from Thurrock Council saying that Stanford Children's Centre will remain open, I asked for some clarification on a few points. Here are the questions and their response: Will the current timetable of sessions run at Stanford Children's Centre continue unchanged, e.g. the same range of weekly sessions being offered, such as Stay and Play, Open Playroom, Bookstart sessions and courses? The timetables at all centres are subject to review and change throughout the year and we are, therefore, unable to confirm that the current timetable will continue unchanged however it will include a range of services both targeted and universal. Will the number of staff delivering the current timetable remain unchanged? The staffing will change as there will be fewer staff across the service. However, closer working between agencies will improve access to support for families across the area and enable the service provision continue. Will a room in Stanford Children's Centre will be adapted to house a midwife and health visitor? We are seeking to convert space to have a medical room for midwives and health visitors, however, the contract for Public Health services is currently under renewal so this may not be in place until September 2017. Should this go ahead it will be subject to building control. There will no longer be a receptionist at Stanford Children's Centre, but families will still be able book onto sessions via telephone and email? The users will be able to book sessions on the phone or by email for sessions delivered at centres where there is no receptionist. Will Stanford Children's Centre remain open 5 days a week? We will ensure the centre is open to facilitate access to the resources as per the planned time tables mentioned above. This is not guaranteed for a specific number of days but, around the services needed in the local area.
