Matthew Scullon started this petition to Senator Thom Tillis and

Animals aren’t Frankenstein is a project that we will be trying to help animals which are being tested on. “An estimated 26 million animals are experimented on each year in the United States”(ProCon.org). We feel that this is wrong because the animals do not have a way of knowing to being tested on. They also have ways to kill the animals with strategies like, “brain irradiation. This allows a researcher to still keep tissue while causing rapid death to the animal.” (Ian Murnaghan)  Think of it this way “Imagine living inside a locked closet without any control over any aspect of your life. Even though some animals are given drugs after testing, that’s not enough, because not all of the animals get drugs. You can’t choose when and what you eat”(PETA). This is the way these animals are living. That’s why we want to save the animals with the help of a petition, because if all of the animals are tested on, we won’t have any animals left, and then the ecosystem will blow up into a bunch of pieces due to nothing being able to do nothing, and that wouldn’t be good.  We have a solution for this problem, we are presenting a petition that will stop testing on animals. What’s also dumb is that the EPA isn’t doing anything to help bees, yet we’re over here going fast, to show a example of how the government is doing nothing to stop the situation. One signature brings us one step closer to protecting these creatures from being tested on like Frankenstein, we need 150 signatures for it to be recognized and it can be a law to not do animal testing are greatly decrease it and together we can save our furry/feathered/scaly brothers and sisters from being tested on so they don’t die.

What we’ll do is that we’ll pass the petition around the city to begin. After that, we will send it into our local politicians and  hope that they vouch for us.

This problem can be solved by sending a petition to our local senator(s)

I started this petition because...
We are four students at a middle school and we started this as a ELA project but then it eventually expanded into a petition!
