The Issue

This is a petition that will help me in my effort of getting a law enforced for harder punishments for bullying. I personally believe there should be persecutions for people of any age that force someone to the point of feeling as though taking their life is the only option left.

Bullying is something that hits me hard. It has been something I’ve had to personally overcome in my life. While I may have not tried to end it, there have been times where I wished that I could have escaped it and I’m sure a lot of the people around me have been through somewhat similar circumstances.

Earlier this year my best friends little sitter Emily committed suicide as a result of endless bullying as she too saw no other escape as nothing was being done. The hurt didn’t stop after her death as her family knew who her main tormentors were but no punishment was put in place. Those people are able to go about freely even though they were responsible for a death. It was devastating for myself, her friends, and most of all her family. I watched and saw how it tore her family apart and that just doesn’t sit well with me so I’m going to try and do something about it. This isn’t the case for just Emily though this happened to many others, Dolly Everette, Libby Bell, Charlotte Dawson, Emma Powell, and Jessica Cleland just to name a few.

When I reach 500 responses I will attach the petition list to the letter I have written to my local MP send send it to them. I will also send through my concerns and the petition to 60 minutes, 9 news, A current affair, and hour local news to see if I can bring this to their attention and even arrange a meeting, so please help me make this possible :)

NOTE: The response goal (default of 100) will keep increasing automatically when the responses are reaching the upper end of the goal, so it may not say 500.
