3,000 Signatures. Who Protects Those Who Can No Longer Speak?

I want to sincerely thank everyone who has signed and shared this petition. Your continued support means a great deal to me.
While I am still awaiting an update from the Anne Arundel County State's Attorney's Office, I intend to follow up again in the coming weeks. No final decision has been communicated to me.
I am also awaiting a response from the Register of Wills regarding Maryland Estates and Trusts § 1-103(c), which addresses protections when proper probate notice has not been established. My certified notice was sent to an address where I did not live and returned UNCLAIMED. This may present another legal avenue worth pursuing.
This case also raises serious questions about Maryland's protections for vulnerable adults.
Why doesn't Maryland require a notary for a will or codicil? Why does it require credible witnesses rather than specifically disinterested witnesses?
Louisiana requires notarization for typed wills. North Carolina expressly provides protections involving disinterested witnesses when a witness stands to benefit. Even Maryland requires a financially disinterested witness for an advance healthcare directive.
Had my grandmother's typed, non-notarized codicil been executed in Louisiana, it would not have satisfied that state's execution requirements, even before considering the other documented irregularities.
These safeguards matter, especially when someone is dying in hospice and the person benefiting from a substantial estate change is also their caregiver and personal representative.
And ultimately, I remain trapped between two devastating possibilities.
Either my grandmother freely decided, nine days before her death, to erase her only grandson from a fifteen-year-old estate plan, leaving me questioning why someone who helped raise me would stop loving me. Or that decision was not genuinely hers, raising the possibility of serious criminal wrongdoing against a dying woman by members of my own family.
Both leave me with indefinite grief. The only person who could tell me what she truly wanted is no longer here.
This is why I continue seeking accountability and stronger protections for vulnerable adults.
Thank you again to all 3,000+ supporters. I will continue pursuing answers and sharing updates as they become available.
