Stop the UK Police attacks on our Human Right to Freedom of Expression
This petition had 601 supporters
Recently we have seen on various social media outlets how various local police forces are making veiled and open threats about “right wing extremism” and “hate speech”.
These threats are in direct breech of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights art. 19 which states:
“Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”
As the UK is a signatory of the UNDHR, these threats are obviously illegal and an attempt by these various police forces to stifle freedom of thought.
We the undersigned demand that The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Parliament immediately repond to the following questions:
1. Is the United Kingdom still a signatory of UNDHR?
2. Why is our human right to Freedom of Expression being openly threatened by local police forces?
3. Who approved of this measure?
4. Since this measure is obviously illegal, how will the Government stop these attempts to curtail our freedoms and how will the offenders be reprimanded?
