Dear UK Paraliment & HM Revenue & Customs,

This petition is raise the import duty on Palm Oil.

Palm oil - extremely cheap vegetable oil due to high yield & all year round crop. Grown only in areas where rainforest thrives. With increase of demand only brings more devastation to precious forests.

Illegal forest fires decimated these ancient trees & unique wildlife. Palm oil production is not sustainable & cannot be 100% certified. Facts show orangutans will be extinct in 2020 if don't act now. 1/3 of the worlds original forests remain. Amazon, Congo & Indonesia - these are the lungs of the planet. 

Destroying these rainforests will undo any advances we make as a developed nation. Co2 levels will continue to increase with rainforests depleting & receding. 

The consumers will take too long to educate - the power is in governments forcing the hand of the corporations/manufacturers to find alternatives. Rapeseed oil, sunflower oil etc. 

Palm oil is also one of the most unhealthiest oil due to saturated fats - the consumer & NHS benefit twice over.
