Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share an update I received today from my local MP! Things are looking up a little, we might be able to make a change after all. Thank you for all of your signatures and also for sharing this petition. I couldn't screenshot it all so I have copy and pasted the email. Fingers crossed We get somewhere.

Gemma.

Dear Gemma,

Thank you for contacting me again regarding the dangers of slapped cheek syndrome during pregnancy.

I appreciate how important this issue is to you and understand that you want to see more done to raise awareness about, and to prevent the spread of, the disease. I have therefore written again to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP, asking for his advice regarding what is the best way to tackle slapped cheek syndrome and who it would be appropriate to contact.

I have enclosed a copy of your latest email with my letter and will ask the Secretary of State to respond to the points you make.

I am unaware of an independent source of advice regarding this issue. However, if you are aware of one and would like me to write to them on your behalf asking for their advice, I am happy to do so.

I will let you know when I receive a reply.

Thank you for taking the time to contact me.

With best wishes,

Nick
