Searching "cats antifreeze" in Google will bring you hundreds of trusted news sources that have covered the deaths of numerous cats due to antifreeze. This has been a problem for a very long time now and nothing has been done to change it, antifreeze contains an ingredient called Ethylene glycol, this makes it tastes sweet making cats want to eat it.

In the last two weeks I have seen two of my cats pass away to a deliberate antifreeze poisoning, as well as the community cat that many people in my area take care of and three more cases in which I was not involved, these have all taken place within a one mile radius and there is nothing that we can do to stop someone from doing this.

If this ingredient was removed from antifreeze, cats would not find the taste so inviting. The death from antifreeze poisoning is slow and painful if it goes unnoticed and the majority of the time when it is noticed, it is too late for anything to be done and the cat needs to be euthanized.
