Justice for the UK Victims of Libyan Terrorism

Justice for the UK Victims of Libyan Terrorism
The Issue
My name is John Murray and on the 17th April 1984 I was with PC Yvonne Fletcher when she was shot and killed outside the Libyan Embassy. In the ambulance en-route to hospital I promised Yvonne I would find her murderer, those were the last words she heard before dying.
I have now campaigned for 32 years to obtain justice for Yvonne and many other victims of Gaddafi supported Libyan Terrorism. The attacks include the IRA 1996 Docklands bombing where two people were killed and others. Now, I’m asking for them to be compensated for their suffering.
The US, Germany and many other countries secured compensation from the Libyan Government to assist their Nationals. They compensated the families who lost loved ones also those who had life changing injuries. The UK Government to date has not pursued any compensation on behalf of UK Victims. This is wrong, an affront to justice and immoral.
It should not matter which country a victim comes from, victims are victims. The Libyan Government has in excess of £9.5bn in frozen assets in the UK [1]. Is it not about time that part of this huge sum was used to compensate the UK victims, many of whom are penniless and in poor health? A few have sadly passed away during this time.
This issue is being debated at the moment in Parliament. An “Asset Freezing (Compensation) Bill” seeks to allow the Government to use the frozen assets of persons involved in supplying terrorist organisations in the UK in order to compensate victims of those organisations. [2]
It has had it’s second reading and now is the time to show the government how much the public are backing this - if we don’t, they may block it!
In the name of humanity support this petition by signing and help all those (including the Libyan People) get what they deserve, all the UK victims want is to be treated like all the others, I see nothing wrong in that.
