Bola and Rafeeq were removed from Gateshead on 20th January, seven weeks tomorrow. It has been a traumatic journey for both of them and for all those following and supporting their plight. Rafeeq continues to attend his new school and they are in modest accommodation. Bola has attended church but there are limited activities for her to engage with. She is in a difficult position as there does not appear to be any support available for returned failed asylum seekers. Bola has always maintained that she has no family for support in Nigeria, and this appears to be the case. In conversation, they both wish to return to Gateshead. The initial hearing is next week. More information will be posted about their welfare and the progress of the case as it becomes available. In the meantime, funds are still needed for accommodation (£1000 per month) and school fees (£120 per month). Please get in touch for bank details if you feel you are able to contribute. Thank you on behalf of Bola and Rafeeq.
