Stop the proposal to turn The Woods community into a Hunting Ground
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500.
The WHOA board is unilaterally submitting an Urban Deer Hunt proposal to the WVDNR that will occur within The Woods community in the Fall of 2017 if we do not voice our opinion to the authorizing entity (WVDNR).
WHOA has not provided any supporting research or data that an urban deer hunt in The Woods is justified, or would be effective.
There are more effective and proven methods to address deer-related concerns without introducing the safety risks, costs, and liabilities this hunt will bring to our community. WE ARE NOT A HUNTING GROUND.
If you as a homeowner do not agree with the hunting proposal, please sign this petition to STOP the Urban Deer Hunt at The Woods. Supporting information is provided by clicking the link below to review the letter being sent to the WVDNR, and the Governor of West Virginia.

On January 14, 2017, The Woods Homeowners Association (WHOA) board voted unanimously to move forward with an application to the WVDNR for permission to conduct an urban deer hunt. This decision was made without input from The Woods homeowners’ community.
Last fall, a handful of homeowners discovered a discussion regarding an urban deer hunt. A lengthy discussion ensued on the community’s social media site (Nextdoor) regarding concerns and lack of supporting information. An online poll reported an overwhelming response against the urban deer hunt.
A WHOA manager requested (through the same social media site) homeowners send via email, their concerns about the urban deer hunt to the board. In January, an email was sent by the same WHOA manager stating a survey would be sent to all homeowners to identify support for or against the hunt.
The survey was sent in the community newsletter, prefaced by propaganda stating the advantages of urban deer hunting, not information or research as it applied specifically to the deer population at The Woods. No mention was made of the concerns raised by homeowners online or directly to WHOA as they had requested earlier. No data was included regarding community support for or against the hunt, and no mention of any supporting research or data.
The homeowners who have signed this petition have concerns about community safety, property values, liability, and the agenda of the WHOA board.
The covenants currently state hunting is not allowed with firearms; we feel bows/crossbows are just as deadly.
Please consider the community safety concerns of The Woods homeowners. We are a neighborhood, a community of families, children, adults, and seasonal guests. We are NOT a hunting ground. Please review the attached petition of homeowners who feel an urban deer hunt is unacceptable. Please do not authorize WHOA’s proposal for an urban deer hunt within our community.
