'Tis the morning after the Disney Parks company removed the bust of the treacherous Bill Cosby and I am overwhelmed with joy. Although Disney doesn't confirm that my petition swayed their decision, I'm sure they had decided to 'nip it in the bud' so to speak before the news stations brought light to the cause forcing their hand in the matter. I was asked how I feel about this "victory" or if I even call it that but in reality this is a necessary "evil" in bringing down a person many once believed by his character on television to deservedly belong on that pedestal, on any pedestal in television history; the reality of the situation is that there are victims who have suffered by his power and Disney did what was right. There is no victory here, victory would be justice for the women preyed on my Cosby. As a lifelong Disney and Disney World fan, this has all reaffirmed my belief in the magic that they do, that it's not just all about business with them-- that they are also out for the best interest of their guests and having association with a now admitted sexual predator is not what they are all about.
This week's victory for the victims of Cosby is a dissociation with Disney and the release of a damning deposition. It is my hope that following suit of the armed forced and Temple University that other companies sever their ties with this monster.
If all I have in my power to do is this one, small step in the Cosby saga, it's enough for me-- I know my aunt is proud of my efforts and to me, that means the world.
