It has recently come to light that the Walt Disney Corporation decided in October of 2016 to dismiss Steve Whitmire from his position as a Muppet puppeteer after 40 years working with the characters (including performing Kermit the Frog for 26 of those years). Mr. Whitmire has now publicly stated that he had no desire to depart, and wishes he could continue.
