Directors Anthony and Joe Russo captured “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame”, back to back, entirely with IMAX Arri 65mm Cameras. With 26% more image than the standard anamorphic 35mm widescreen; this is the format the filmmakers and ‘MARVEL Studios’ intended the movie to be experienced.

The home media release “Avengers: Infinity War” was met with much disappointment, as fans were less than satisfied to find that the feature did not retain its original IMAX Aspect Ratio; the way the filmmakers had intended. With both top and bottom of the IMAX frame cropped, settings and characters looked unevenly framed and were easily noticeable. At a recent Q&A, Joe Russo (Director) stated that much like the fans, he too was disappointed to find that the native IMAX Ratio did not make it home with “Avengers: Infinity War”. He explained that he and his brother/co-director Anthony Russo spent a long time trying to convince Disney and IMAX to release the home media for “Avengers: Infinity War” with said format.

Releasing the IMAX Edition for “Avengers: Endgame” will showcase the original vision of Directors Anthony and Joe Russo for the film. As a filmmaker myself, I understand how much a slight alteration to a film can mess with ones true vision.

On one final note; with the state of the art large high definition televisions, the IMAX Aspect Ratio for “Avengers: Endgame” would look more amazing than ever! With the highest resolution images and the widest range of dynamic colors, the native IMAX negative would make the state of the art television display more crisp and amazing than ever!

So I implore the Walt Disney Company and IMAX to see to that Anthony and Joe Russo’s vision for “Avengers: Endgame” remains authentic for its home media release; with its native IMAX Aspect Ratio.
