For the past two months, since placards went up offering Wicklesham Quarry for sale as a 'development opportunity', local people have been visiting Wicklesham's facebook page in search of information. To summarise the present situation: Wicklesham Quarry is undergoing 5 years' aftercare in accordance with its planning conditions for restoration to agriculture. No application for a change of use has been made, and in our view any application for industrial use is unlikely to be successful. The High Court stated that Faringdon Neighbourhood Plan's policy was 'in conflict' with the Local Plan, and that Faringdon Council was wrong to call it a 'brown field site'. The judge stated that the restoration and aftercare schemes must be carried out. Since this is still agricultural land, in keeping with its surroundings, nothing has changed to alter the validity of that judgment. If any such application is made, we will strongly oppose it. Please let friends know that the Campaign to Protect Wicklesham Quarry from Development is still alive and well, and needs the support of local people! Thank you!
