Please post your objection online to Grundon's latest attempt to  avoid restoring Wicklesham Quarry. The deadline for objections is 14th May- only a few days away. Follow the link & click on 'Comment on this application': http://myeplanning.oxfordshire.gov.uk/swiftlg/apas/run/WPHAPPDETAIL.DisplayUrl?theApnID=MW.0038/19&theTabNo=3&backURL=%3Ca

Without objections from members of the public this application will NOT be heard by elected Councillors, and a planning hearing gives us an opportunity to speak to Councillors directly. Grundon is seeking to have its so-called 'restoration' passed by waiving the remaining planning conditions. According to Grundon, this means merely allowing them to vary the gradient of the soil base from the original plan. However, we will remind Councillors that the planning condition on how the ponds were to be preserved, "to complete quarry restoration works to ensure that habitat is retained and improved", has never been lifted. It states:

"“No works shall be carried out other than in accordance with the approved mitigation and enhancement scheme section 6 (Mitigation Measures) of the Extended Phase 1 Habitat Survey Report dated September 2012, the Reptile Method Statement submitted 28 February 2013, the Tree Planting & Grassland Mix dated 28 February 2013 and section 1.8 of the 2013 Great Crested Newt Refresher Surveys (enzygo 2013) report dated 5 July 2013.”

Either Grundon must put right the appalling damage to the ponds that has been carried out on their watch - or alternatively they must apply to have the condition lifted. We do not believe County Councillors will give their blessing to the deliberate destruction of a Priority Habitat and European Protected Species. Please make your voice heard by 14th May. For more information about Grundon's application, check out last week's update, which did not reach everyone's mailbox, by following the link below.
