Dear Mr. Miller,

As a follow-up to my previous email regarding my inquiry to Dr. Raymond Dattwyler, I would like to call attention to the PDF below summarizing a 1994 meeting of The Vaccines and Related Products Advisory Committee. On page 49 you will see the testimony of Dr. Dattwyler describing the immune response to Lyme disease and patients who fail to mount a vigorous immune response tended to do worse, clinically. So, we have known about seronegative Lyme disease for the past twenty-nine years! Why has this been swept under the rug? One more question to ask when you reach out to him for comment.

Excerpt from page 49

DR. O’BRIEN: I was concerned about your last slide where you said there was a poor correlation between serologic response and clinical disease and as I heard you to say, some people who mount better responses get worse disease. Did I hear you say that?

DATTWYLER: No, no, I said the reverse. The better [serologic] responses tend to have better [clinical disease] response. And I should clarify where this is from. This is from antibiotic trials. These are treatment trials of erythema migrans, [Bulls-eye rash] in which individuals given an antibiotic regime which was not optimal ...we didn’t know that it was not optimal at the time ...the ones that failed to mount a vigorous immune response tended to do worse, clinically. So, there was an inverse correlation between the degree of serologic response and the outcome.
So, individuals with a poor immune response tend to have worse disease.

CARL TUTTLE’S COMMENT: If the spirochete can evade our own immune system to the point where we do not mount a vigorous immune response, then this pathogen is certainly capable of evading our serologic diagnostic tests; SERONEGATIVE ACTIVE LYME DISEASE.

Three decades of this Mr. Miller and it is criminal!!

Respectfully submitted,

Carl Tuttle
