Dear Senator Sherman and the Senate Health and Human Services Committee,
The CDC estimates this year’s flu season involved 36 million flu illnesses, 370,000 hospitalizations and 22,000 deaths. As of March 13, 2020, there have been 1629 cases of COVID-19 and 41 deaths.
With Lyme disease however no one is counting casualties; patients whose lives are ruined as a result of a missing bulls-eye rash, false negative Lyme test, inadequate treatment and medical community practicing willful ignorance all misguided by the existing dogma propagated through the IDSA, CDC and American Lyme Disease Foundation.
-No one is actively looking for congenital Lyme disease. (Reported back in 1985) [1]
-No one is routinely looking for Borrelia in tissue after surgery. (Documented in many PubMed studies) [2]
-No one is investigating sexual transmission of Lyme disease. (Suspected in 2003 by Doctors William T. Harvey and Paola Salvato) [3]
-No one is screening the blood supply for Borrelia. (Borrilia is capable of surviving blood banking conditions reported in 1990) [4]
-No one is looking for the Borrelia spirochete in Alzheimer’s brains at autopsy. (Alzheimer Borreliosis has been identified by pathologist Dr. Allen MacDonald) [5]
-No one is developing direct detection methods for Lyme disease. (Translation: No rash, no positive test, no treatment.)
So how prevalent is Lyme when the 30-year focus has been to keep case numbers artificially low through strict case definition requirements and deliberate avoidance of the horribly disabled.
Acknowledging Lyme as a horribly disabling disease will incriminate our public health officials so they’re all pleading the fifth. [6]
And with COVID-19 the exact same errors/mistakes/conflicts of interest/ proprietary patenting-attempts/ interference with competing testing methods/direct detection/inappropriately narrow case definitions etc. etc. etc. as in Lyme - but this is MUCH MUCH broader and affecting ALL of society and with devastating economic consequences. The mishandling of disease in this country is a direct consequence of the Bayh-Dole patent and trademark law dealing with inventions arising from federal government-funded research as government employees can benefit financially through these patents. Is the right decision being made or is the promise of financial gain the driving force?

A congressional investigation into the mishandling of Lyme disease is long overdue as we have witnessed the same failures with the handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
I implore you, your fellow senators and congressmen to initiate a congressional investigation into the mishandling of Lyme disease because you and your family members (and the rest of the residents of New Hampshire) are a single tick bite away from experiencing this travesty. Lyme disease is not going away anytime soon and increasing.

P.S. The mishandling of Lyme disease here in the US has had a ripple effect globally as the European Union monitored Lyme disease via each country through voluntary reporting. In 2018 they defined 57 diseases for ‘mandatory’ surveillance by each country. The list starts at Anthrax, Botulism and moves through to Zika virus and congenital Zika virus. NO LYME DISEASE. Neuroborreliosis is on the list however reported cases must meet strict conditions including positive intrathecal testing of cerebrospinal fluid.
The power of IDSA/CDC/ALDF transcends the US borders as the cover-up is now established under European law. Just like here in the U.S., the EUCALB does not want the true level of LB known. [9]
Knowing the true level would expose their incompetence and criminal activities over the last few decades and threaten their endless money stream.
