Dr. Shapiro,
My letter below dated June 6th asked the question: (which you refused to answer) “What happens to a patient with Lyme disease who goes months, years, or decades before diagnosis because of a false-negative serological test result?”
The six minute video below from 2016 answers that question:
LYME INTERRUPTED: Our Stories
1. Cassidy: misdiagnosed for 5 years
2. Ethel: misdiagnosed for 4 years
3. Riley: misdiagnosed for 4 years
4. Mary Lindsey: misdiagnosed for 4 years
5. Jenna: misdiagnosed for 14 years
6. Gabbi: misdiagnosed for 4 years
7. Tayler: misdiagnosed for 8 years
8. Savanna: misdiagnosed for 14 years
Excerpt:
In the fullness of time, the mainstream handling of chronic Lyme disease will be viewed as one of the most shameful episodes in the history of medicine because elements of academic medicine, elements of government and virtually the entire insurance industry have colluded to deny a disease.
This has resulted in needless suffering of many individuals who deteriorate and sometimes die for lack of timely application of treatment or denial of treatment beyond some arbitrary duration. -Kenneth B. Liegner, M.D.
Dr. Shapiro; You are 100% responsible for this suffering!
