Petition updateCalling for a Congressional investigation of the CDC, IDSA and ALDFDr. Margaret Chan, Director-General of the WHO

The letter below addressed to Dr. Margaret Chan, Director-General of the WHO summarizes 26 emails previously sent to Dr. Ian Smith, Executive Director of the Director-General's Office. These emails provide overwhelming evidence (And references) that Lyme disease has been horribly mishandled here in the U.S. causing immeasurable global consequences. Lyme disease is a serious life-threatening/life-altering infection misclassified as a simple nuisance disease.
The level of response to Lyme disease (Worldwide) does not match the severity of the infection.
The following question remains unanswered:
“At what point in time will the WHO announce to the world that you could become horribly disabled from Lyme disease, wheelchair bound or experience sudden death with no warning signs? (As described in the 26 emails to Dr. Ian Smith)”
All 26 emails can be accessed from the following Dropbox link: (Please feel free to share)

The attached cartoon accurately illustrates the state of affairs here in the United States as a result of the mishandling of this disease (And disinformation campaign) orchestrated by the Centers for Disease Control, Infectious Diseases Society of America and American Lyme Disease Foundation.
Letter to Dr. Margaret Chan:

Attn: Dr Margaret Chan, Director-General of the WHO
Dear Dr. Chan
Below is a summary of 26 emails sent to Dr. Ian Smith, Executive Director of the Director-General's Office outlining a serious world health threat which has been misclassified as a simple nuisance disease here in the United States. The inaccurate conceptualization of this disease has influenced the world’s perceptions and lack of appropriate response as we are dealing with a life-altering/life-threatening infection as reported by the growing disabled Lyme patient population worldwide.
Any life-altering/life-threatening infection deserves the same attention as AIDS, Ebola and Zika but due to the mishandling of this disease here in the United States, Lyme disease is not on the radar.
Quote from Dr. Sylvie C. Briand, Director Pandemic and Epidemic Diseases Department:
“Lyme disease is not one of the priority pathogens currently traced at global level”
There are 35,000 signatures on a Change.org petition calling for a congressional investigation into the mishandling of Lyme disease here in the United States and another 43,500 signatures from Lyme disease patients in Australia. Additionally, the UK has initiated an independent Lyme disease review.
Lyme disease is a serious global health threat that requires the attention of the World Health Organization independent of the CDC and researchers here in the United States who has controlled the narrative for three decades while this runaway plague disables countless worldwide.
As stated by Stricker and Johnson; “Up to two-thirds of individuals infected with B. burgdorferi will fail conventional 30-year-old antibiotic therapy for Lyme disease.” We have a dire need to develop antimicrobials capable of eradicating the Lyme disease spirochete and its persisters.
As Director-General of the WHO, I ask that you read the following summary and attachment which includes all communication with Dr. Ian Smith. The WHO cannot ignore this problem indefinitely while turning a blind eye to the contents of this letter prolonging the suffering which has been reported worldwide. When will the World Health Organization recognize this life-altering/life-threatening global threat?
As a representative to the disabled Lyme patient community I respectfully request a prompt response to this inquiry.
Sincerely,
Carl Tuttle

Summary of emails sent to Dr. Ian Smith Executive Director of the Director-General's Office:
1. Sent: 15 July 2016 17:38
-Researchers from Johns Hopkins published their findings regarding the antimicrobial resistance of Borrelia. (The spirochete responsible for Lyme disease) Standard antibiotic treatment for Lyme disease does not kill persistent Borrelia bacteria. (May 23, 2016)
-1.5 million dollar CDC grant to New York Medical College (Wormser) for the ongoing support of 30yr old dogma.
-First detection of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato DNA in king penguins (Expanding global Lyme pandemic)
2. Sent: 18 July 2016 15:03
-Antimicrobial resistance of Borrelia has been known for decades. (Klempner 1992)
- CDC and members of the Infectious Diseases Society of America continue to suppress a serious, disabling life-altering disease and antimicrobial resistance.
-700 scientific articles supporting chronic Lyme disease or persistent Borrelia infection.
- Call for a “Manhattan Project” to Combat the Epidemic. (Stricker and Johnson 2014)
3. Sent: July 18, 2016 12:55
-Nine randomly selected comments from patients disabled from Wormser’s “nuisance disease” whose junk science has been financed by the CDC. There are 35,000 signatures/comments from 42 countries and 890 pages of heart wrenching comments from horribly disabled Lyme patients around the globe.
-Who is responsible for misclassifying Lyme as a simple nuisance disease and why?”
4. Sent: July 18, 2016 2:25
-The CDC refused to respond to a letter regarding the sexual transmission of Lyme disease
- NEWS: Recent study suggests that Lyme disease can be sexually transmitted

5. Sent: July 19, 2016 10:14
-Single dose Doxycycline (Wormser 2001) as prophylaxis for the prevention of Lyme disease stopped Lyme disease not in 87% of mice, but rather, in 20 to 30 percent at most. (Zeidner 2008) Single dose Doxycycline is still widely used in 2016.
-Overt intimidation, even threats of job loss for researchers who don't toe the line.
6. Sent: July 20, 2016 8:02
-Dr. Kenneth Liegner’s patient, Vicki Logan received a positive culture test performed by the Centers for Disease Control despite months and months of antibiotic treatment. A copy of the lab report was forwarded to Dr. Ian Smith.
-Vicki Logan’s positive culture test should have set off a red flag but was ignored while the focus remained on discrediting the sick and disabled Lyme patient population.
7. Sent: July 21, 2016 9:13
-Patient Vicki Logan’s seven page autopsy results were forwarded to Dr. Ian Smith showing histopathologic findings consistent with neurologic manifestations of chronic Lyme disease.
-The destructive nature of Borrelia is evident in the liver (nutmeg liver), kidneys, heart, lungs and brain. The patient died after the insurer refused additional IV antibiotic therapy.
8. Sent: July 22, 2016 7:44
-Dr. Paul H. Duray Pathology Research Foundation identifies persistent Borrelia infection in a Lyme patient who had been treated with antibiotics for seven years.
-Patient Scotty Shelton’s brain (cerebral cortex) was positive for Borrelia burgdorferi and Borrelia myamotoi, his testicle is positive for Bb. We are now testing other tissues. Seven years of antibiotics and 3.5 years of natural treatments (along with antibiotics) and he was highly, highly positive.
- Post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome is simply a fabricated medical condition disguising treatment failure.
-Foreign health agencies are blindly following what has been deceitfully established here in the United States; a false perception that Lyme disease is a "minor disease".

-Copy of clinical notes from Dr. Sam Donta, professor of medicine and Director of the Boston University Medical Campus Lyme Disease Center. No one in our family tested positive for Lyme disease due to the CDC’s strict case definition. (Two out of three IgM and five of ten IgG Western blot bands)
-China’s Western blot requires a single band (Band 41) for positive results.
- Dr. David Volkman (Lyme researcher) wrote a letter to Dr. Tom Frieden, Director of the CDC asking that the strict criteria for positive results be reevaluated. I forwarded a copy of Dr. Volkman’s letter to Dr. Ian Smith. Dr. Volkman did not receive a response from the CDC.
- Bands 31 and 34 were removed from the Western blot to facilitate vaccine development. Bands 31 (Outer surface protein A) and 34 (Outer surface protein B) are highly specific to Borrelia.
-The human Lyme vaccine was a failure while the two most significant Western blot bands have not been restored.

-The U.S. yearly infection rate for Lyme disease exceeds 300,000 new cases annually. Lyme disease is now six times the AIDS epidemic and twice as prevalent as breast cancer.
-There are no short term treatment options when the infection progresses to late stage similar to TB. The vast majority of these patients never developed the telltale bulls-eye rash so early treatment was missed.

-Due to the restrictive case definition very few Lyme patients are testing positive (Worldwide)
