The problem of gerrymandering is deeply ingrained in American politics and has degraded the sovereignty, liberty and rights of everyday American citizens. Those rights have been usurped by the über-rich causing a second gilded age in today's America, with immense levels of social problems as a result of unprecedented income and wealth inequality.

The PEOPLE of states such as Arizona and California have taken the initiative to address the problem, enacting Independent Commissions to remove the inherent conflict of interest state lawmaking bodies have enjoyed for more than two centuries.

The initial results coming out of those commissions are encouraging. So much so that Arizona's Republican legislative leadership, sensing "their power" slipping away to the PEOPLE, argued before the highest court in the land in March 2015 that the PEOPLE of Arizona had HARMED THEM (the elected legislature) by establishing this new process.

A decision from the Supreme Court is due in June 2015 on that matter.

NOW is the right time to enact Redistricting Reform. The Redistricting Reform Act of 2015 is a powerful step in the right direction.

A reluctant Congress will act if demanded by the PEOPLE of the United States. As demonstrated in states throughout the country, this is a concern on both sides of the proverbial partisan aisle. Please take a moment to view the video from Common Cause North Carolina about a measure that has been before that state's legislature.

Please join me in making this demand.
