I have reactivated this post as it is one of the main reasons for Brexit it's ultra-wealthy backers' urgent desire to continue to engage in financial crime: Money laundering through anonymous offshore companies, and large-scale tax avoidance, both of which new European Union regulations are cracking down on. A soft Brexit would still require the UK to follow these new EU rules against tax avoidance and against anonymity of beneficial ownership of corporations. That's why BoJo's backers are pushing for a hard Brexit - and it's why BoJo hasn't really done anything to renegotiate Brexit since he became PM. He and Farage and their billionaire backers don't want a soft Brexit. They need a hard Brexit so they can continue their financial piracy and continue to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.

The City of London and offshore tax haven "industry" defrauds the Treasury of many billions in tax revenue every year - money which would enable a responsible government to end public budget austerity and properly fund public services.
