Volunteers have been emailing the local department of health and expressing concern over the weight loss, skin issues, spay/neuter complications and worms.
We feel it is reasonable to ask the State Department of Health to step in and ensure that all animals are seen by a veterinarian that is not affiliated with the city or shelter. If it turns out that all the animals are healthy, that's great.
But when we asked about an inspection or further action, this is what we were told. If you, like us, do not believe this is a satisfactory response, please feel free to also email the NJ DOH.
Here is what we were told on Monday, 10/10/22 at 7:12pm:
The Department of Health continues to work with the local health department and the shelter on a correction plan developed in September after the earlier joint inspection.
Our Department has no authority to tell the shelter which groups can have access to the shelter. Thus we cannot tell them which groups to involve in their shelter.
