The Transportation Minister needs to Stop Greyhound from cutting 2.2 Million miles of bus service in B.C.

The Transportation Minister needs to Stop Greyhound from cutting 2.2 Million miles of bus service in B.C.
The Issue
Following the recent decision from the Passenger Transportation Board to allow Greyhound to make the cuts, we are now encouraging the public to make their concerns known to their MLA's and to continue to support this petition. Mary Polak has indicated she will not reverse the board's decision. A provincial election is in May, please question candidates on their position. We do not want this industry to be de-regulated. Tell the Minister to reverse her decision.
The transportation infrastructure of every society fundamentally shapes broader relations within the economy and the society. The prosperity, productivity, and participation of all segments of society depends on a viable, accessible transportation network. These “externalities” explain why the nature of transportation services provided is a matter of public and policy interest – and cannot be left solely up to the private cost-benefit decisions of private market participants. We thus reaffirm the importance of having bodies like this Board oversee changes to schedules and services offered by firms such as Greyhound participating in the provincial transportation sector. The CAW has proposed that the B.C. Public Transportation Board denies the application submitted by Greyhound to reduce 2.2 million miles of service in British Columbia. Mary Polak, the Liberal Transportation Minister needs to understand that many, many B.C. communities will be affected and the Minister should reverse this decision.
