As Jews worldwide commemorated 1,948 to the destruction of the Second Temple by Rome in 69 CE, a record number of Jews streamed to the Temple Mount. Over 1,300 Jews filed passed the only Temple Mount metal detector and were allowed a brief visit while under heavy police and WAKF guard to ensure that no prayers would be recited. It should be mentioned that the police counted the Jews one by one checking each and every ID (see attached picture). 6 Jews were arrested for violating the Jewish no-prayer ban. Hundreds of Jews, however, were stranded outside the gate of the Mount as the police did not allow Jews to enter at a fast enough rate between "Jewish visitation hours" of 7:30-11:00 and 13:30-14:30. Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem Dov Kalmanovich sent an urgent message to the police urging that the mount remain open until all Jews writing: "It is inconceivable that people who are fasting and waiting for hours in the intense heat to enter the Temple Mount only to be turned away and sent home without being able to enter. I call upon the Israel Police to show compassion and tolerance today on Tisha B'Av and to extend the visit time to the Jews at least an additional hour. " Meanwhile, Jordan expressed "outrage" over "settlers storming Al Aqsa" Jordan's foreign minister Ayman al-Safadi said: "Since 1969, there have not been so many Jewish visitors in one day... Israel's attempts to change the historical and legal situation are an ongoing problem for 'the patron of the holy places', King Abdullah." The Movement for Temple Mount Renewal calls on the wider public to continue supporting the cause of Jewish Prayer on the Mount! https://www.change.org/p/sign-and-share-the-temple-mount-manifesto
