Every day I walk past the newspaper stand as I come out of the station on the way to work and see an array of headllines that depress, sadden or anger me. No doubt millions of people start their day feeling like this first thing in the morning. I have stopped reading newspapers as a result. As the newspaper with the biggest daily readership, The Sun is in an extraordinary position of influence. It should start taking some responsibility for the way it can make people feel and react. It is easy and lazy to find fault, highlight people's weaknesses and create the impression that we live in a world that is random, bad and uncontrolled. However, I challenge The Sun to find good news to headline every day in the run up to Christmas and see for themselves if they can change a nation's mood from depression and anxiety to hope and happiness.
