We, the citizens of Maine, concerned for the welfare of animals, are requesting the support of the powers that be, in the State of Maine, to be the first state to enforce legislation forcing animal abusers to be put on an Animal Offenders Registration list, open for public scrutiny.  The AORM (Animal Offenders Registry of Maine) will document all offenses and require offenders to keep their status current by reporting every year. The AORM list will better enable the public to make wiser decisions when giving up pets for adoption and also a venue to report offenses and check the records for offenders. We believe it will lessen the amount of offenses when one is forced to be documented.
