Adopt a national anthem for Scotland

The Issue

Scotland has no official national anthem.
For many years "Flower of Scotland" has, largely, been the unofficial adopted national anthem of Scotland.  Sung at sporting and other major events and gatherings as the chosen song of the Scottish People.
In light of the independence referendum result, I would like to petition the Scottish Government and wider Scottish Parliament to re-open the issue of deciding on an official Scottish national anthem.  I feel that "Flower of Scotland" can no longer be said to be a vocal embodiment of the spirit of Scotland.

Whilst nearly half of the population of Scotland still associate with the spirit of this song, more than half clearly do not.  I believe that Scotland's 'brand' image would be further damaged and open to outright ridicule if we continue to use "Flower of Scotland" on the national and international stage.

Please reopen the debate on adopting an official national anthem that does not cause embarrassment and does not invoke very valid calls of hypocrisy.
