We the parents and friends of Bangabandhu Primary School demand the release of the independent review conducted by Ms Marcia Van-Loo confirming the allegations of bullying, harassment and the religiously insensitive approach to staff by the, then Acting Head Teacher; Marigold Palmer Jones and an immediate investigation into her subsequent appointment as Head Teacher.
We also seek to obtain a statement from Tower Hamlets Council due to their lack of action after the “Whistle Blowing” procedure being followed. Complaints were lodged against the Head Teacher through "Whistle Blowing" procedure for breaching Safeguarding Measures.
Furthermore, concerns have been raised about the safeguarding of children at the school, recently children have had gone missing from the school premises (where the children have been leaving the premises without knowledge or awareness of staff) and the correct protocol was not followed. One particular case had occurred in May 2017 and the parent of the child concerned is awaiting to hear of the outcome of investigation.
We ask that any ongoing investigations are swiftly dealt with.
As a parent, I feel that it is very important that we show and teach our children that any form of bullying and harassment should not be tolerated. Condoning such behaviours sends a negative portrayal to our children, that bullying and harassment is acceptable in the school and in the general society.
Serious concerns have also been raised about child safeguarding issues by parents, on more than one occasion, there has been cases of children leaving the school premises without the knowledge and awareness of staff. Our children have the right to be in a safe environment and under no circumstances should their safety be jeopardised.
From what I have personally experienced as a parent of a child at Bangabandhu, I felt my voice was not being listened when I raised serious concerns about the welfare of my child's complex needs. I feel that as parents, we need to ensure that our children's safety is made a priority in the school environment.
